Career Development Scholarship Project

The Career Development Scholarship Program is an initiative of Mission Hope Foundation designed to support students who are committed to education, career development, and positive community impact. This scholarship is more than financial assistance—it is an investment in students who are actively preparing for their future and demonstrating the determination to succeed.

Through this project, Mission Hope Foundation seeks to remove financial barriers, encourage academic persistence, and recognize students who embody leadership, resilience, and a strong desire to grow personally and professionally.


🎓 About the Scholarship

The purpose of the Career Development Completion Scholarship is to:

  • Encourage full participation and course completion

  • Reduce financial barriers for career advancement

  • Recognize demonstrated professionalism and employability skills

  • Support workforce readiness and economic mobility

This scholarship is not based on financial need alone, but on successful completion and demonstrated effort throughout the course.


Scholarship Issuance Requirements

To be eligible for the $200.00 scholarship award, participants must:

  1. Be enrolled in the 8-Week Career Development Course

  2. Complete all weekly assignments (Weeks 1–8)

  3. Submit a complete professional portfolio

  4. Successfully complete the Capstone Project, including:

    • A recorded mock interview

    • A 2-page reflective analysis

  5. Meet minimum attendance and participation requirements

  6. Adhere to professional conduct expectations throughout the course


🚀 About the Virtual Career Development Training Course 

The 8-Week Virtual Career Development Course prepares participants with essential career readiness skills needed to enter, re-enter, or advance in the workforce. Participants will complete a sequence of hands-on assignments that result in a professional portfolio, including:

  • A professional biography and headshot

  • A customized cover letter

  • A targeted resume

  • A professional reference list

  • A LinkedIn profile and networking plan

  • A strengths, weaknesses, and soft skills analysis

  • Interview preparation and practice

  • A recorded mock interview and reflective analysis

Computer Requirements for the Online Course

To successfully participate in this online course, students must have reliable access to the following:

Required Device

  • A desktop or laptop computer (recommended)

    • Windows 10/11 or macOS 11+

    • Chromebook is acceptable if it can access the LMS and Google Docs/Microsoft 365

  • A tablet may work for viewing content, but a computer is strongly recommended for completing assignments (resume, cover letter, LinkedIn setup)

Internet Access

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection

    • Recommended: 10 Mbps download / 2 Mbps upload or higher

  • Ability to stream video and upload assignments (PDF/Word/video)

Browser & Software

  • Updated web browser: Google Chrome (recommended), Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge

  • Ability to open and edit documents:

    • Microsoft Word or Google Docs

    • PDF viewer (Adobe Acrobat Reader or built-in viewer)

  • Email access for course updates and instructor communication

Audio/Video for Course Activities

  • Working speakers or headphones

  • Microphone (built-in is fine)

  • Webcam or phone camera for the Week 8 taped interview

  • Ability to record and upload a short video file (phone video is acceptable)

Optional but Helpful

  • Printer/scanner (not required—digital submission is acceptable)

  • Quiet space for interview practice and recording

Technical Skills Needed

Students should be able to:

  • Log into the LMS and navigate course modules

  • Download, complete, and upload assignments

  • Use email and basic word processing

  • Record and upload a video for the capstone project


📝 Scholarship Eligibility and Application Requirements

Eligibility Requirements: 

Applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited educational institution or vocational program

  • Demonstrate financial need and/or academic merit

  • Submit all required materials by the deadline

Required Application Materials:

Applicants must submit all of the following:

  • Completed application form

  • Scholarship essay 

  • One letter of recommendation

  • Proof of enrollment or acceptance in accredited education institution or vocational program (i.e., report card, resume, or letter from admissions)

  • Resume or activity list of academic/extracurricular activities

Applicants will be evaluated based on the quality of their essay, academic commitment, leadership potential, and alignment with the mission of Mission Hope Foundation.
