Curriculum and Support

Mission Hope Foundation Curriculum and Support Department (CSD) is the “Think Tank” of our organization. CSD is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving the support pathways we provide schools and career organizations. It is MHF CSD’s mission to design supplemental resources for social emotional development, career readiness, and transition into adulthood. Our framework is designed to support instructional practices aimed at training students to successfully prepare for, enter in, and exist in adulthood and the workforce.

Our primary goal is to develop an integrated, well-rounded, and engaging supportive curriculum that aligns with state standards and meets the diverse needs of the students we serve. We collaborate with teachers, administrators, and business leaders to be sure that our resources incorporate all elements of the employee lifecycle. We integrate these theories in our Mission Focus Training Academy and My Port Space career resources in a mixed approach encompassing core academic subjects across all grade levels and work readiness standards for both students and educators.

Supportive Framework Development: MHF CSD takes a research-based approach to supplemental resource development, we do this by staying abreast of the latest employment, educational trends, and best practices. We collaborate with subject matter experts, review educational and employment resources, and gather input from educators to design resource supports that are academically connected, industry relative, and grade level approximate to meet students in a practical sense-- where they are in growth, learning, and development. It is our goal to provide a solid foundation in essential knowledge and skills while fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

Instructional Support: MHF CSD provides ongoing support to teachers through professional development opportunities and instructional resources. Our Mission Coaches collaborates with educators to enhance their instructional practices, incorporating innovative teaching methods, technology integration, and differentiation strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students. We encourage a whole student-centered approach to career preparation, social emotional development and entry into adulthood that promotes active engagement, collaboration, student voice activation, and ownership of learning.

Data Review and Integration: MHF CSD utilizes an easy-to-use streamlined assessment system to monitor student progress, measure learning outcomes, and inform instructional decisions. We offer summative assessments to gauge student understanding and identify areas of interest and growth. We also analyze assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of our resources, making data-driven adjustments to ensure continuous improvement.

Alignment with Standards: MHF CSD ensures that the resources we provide align with state standards and guidelines, providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary for college or career readiness and entry into adulthood. We regularly review and update our resource learning targets and simulation programming to reflect any changes in standards, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for real-life events.

Integration of Technology: MHF CSD recognizes the importance of integrating technology into resource support to enhance student learning and prepare them for the digital age. Through My Port Space and Mission Focus Academy, we provide tangible resources in cover letter/resume development and digital portfolios training. We strive to create a technologically enhanced learning environment that fosters and mirrors industry expectations in creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and digital literacy skills.

Community Partnership and Interaction: MHF CSD actively collaborates with teachers, administrators, parents, and community members to create an interconnected learning community. We value input from industry and MHF CSD actively seeks feedback to continuously improve our simulation strategies and resources. We also engage in partnerships with local organizations and industry professionals to provide authentic learning experiences and real-world connections for the organizations we serve.

We strive to inspire a passion for learning, promote academic excellence, and equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to succeed in the awaiting workforce. Through ongoing collaboration, innovative practices, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we prepare our students to become lifelong learners and responsible contributory citizens.
